Who We Are
Meet the Members of SimAlTech

Mona Sims
Executive Director
Mona was one of the two founding members
of SimAlTech and soon took over the running of Simaltech exclusively. She has been creating websites since 1996
and
has training in hardware upgrading and repair, Programming (Honours),
Database Design and Systems Analysis (Honours), Systems Support
Specialist; which includes Unix, client server technology, Windows
specialist and networking (Honours), office applications (she's a
Microsoft Office User Specialist), and adult education.
She was one of Ontario's first Certified Internet Webmasters and
we're told was the first person ever to challenge the CIW exams,
which she passed, without taking the courses. Because of her expertise and insight, was invited to be a Subject
Matter Expert for Nivo International, where she periodically contributes to
upcoming world wide computer certification programs and
exams.
She has been the designer, consultant, or staff trainer for many
local web sites and has web site clients throughout Ontario
and in such diverse places as Texas, Michigan, Ohio, Australia,
Kenya, and
Saudi Arabia.
She's taught business and college classes in programming and
scripting languages (Java, C, HTML, Javascripting, PHP, XML, Visual Basic,
SQL), database design,
systems analysis, advanced office applications (full Microsoft, Corel,
and Lotus suites),
project management, web design, graphics programs (Adobe, Corel),
CCS, Macromedia Flash, and E-Commerce.
She has a background that includes graphic design, layout, and
printing and has authored training manuals and college level courses
in database design and use, and in graphic design using Corel and Adobe
products.
She's an award winning photographer when she can be dragged away
from her computers.
Mona won the
Influential Woman of
Northern Ontario Business Award for 2003.

Alain Aube
Technical Services Director
Alain is also one of the original two.
He spends most of his time on the road these days and can be
found most often installing and taking care of the networks
and computers in banks, other financial institutions, and many retail
businesses throughout northern Ontario.
When he's not working, he's
studying. His training includes networking, client server
technology, micro electronics, Unix, hardware, Windows
specialist, printers, servers and more. (He has a long list of
Honours Diplomas.)
His industry certifications are too
many to
list here but includes IBM severs, HP certifications and many
printer certifications. His first certification was the A+ Certification for Hardware
Technicians. He's come a long way from those days!
He's not just a "hardware guy"
though. He's also designed and maintained some local business
and government websites.
Alain is also an A+ Certified
Workaholic. Just to round out his education and develop his
artistic side he has acquired a degree in Architectural
Drafting. He is also continuing his education in Sever
technology and security.
Martin Glaude
Programming Director
A Certified Internet Webmaster, able to
piece together a complete Linux Firewall/Router/Web Server/Mail
Server/Domain Name Server in an afternoon, capable of building
secure CGI applications on a tight budget, it's: Martin Glaude!
Having written his first program at age
8, Martin has always been in the front lines of the computer
industry. An early adopter of the commercialized Internet, he has
been watching the evolutions and revolutions in cyberspace closely.
A programmer at heart, Martin excels at using CGI programs and
Macromedia Flash to create dynamic web sites, which captivates the
viewer and urges them to return again and again. In-depth knowledge
of several programming languages, including C, C++, Visual Basic, and Perl, allows
him to optimize any Web Development solution. Powerful databases
well suited for commercial sites can be created with SQL - the
industry standard for the Internet.
As for Web Design, Martin has a critical eye for web pages and
excels at optimizing them, both in download speed and user
friendliness. With the ability to balance the newest technologies,
like Cascading Style Sheets, while ensuring compatibility across
operating systems and with older browsers, Martin can create a site
that appears cutting-edge while still being accessible to all.
Understanding the Internet means understanding the underlying
networks and protocols that hold it together. Martin has worked with
Greater Sudbury Telecommunications and has had much first hand
experience with common Ethernet and powerful ATM networks operating
on both copper lines and fibre optics.
With networking comes the responsibility of security, and whether
you need filter lists installed or DMZ's built on standard Routers
and Firewalls, or an inexpensive but reliable and flexible Linux
machine to keep your network safe, Martin can do the work for you.
He is intimately familiar with the finest details of distributed
denial-of-service attacks as well as traditional network intrusion
attempts and can utilize advanced tools and techniques to analyze a
network and detect security holes.
Martin Glaude operates the popular thestudentweekly.com web site and
owns his computer software company which produces games and
applications for Windows and Linux. Martin is the developer and
owner of the wildly popular and lucrative Memgen and Survgen
programs you'll find on blog sites everywhere.
Megan Demlow
Senior Designer
Meg has been working with SimAlTech for
most of our existence. She's the lady that often has to pull it all
together. While we tend to give her all the
jobs we hate, like heavy research and dealing with the "other stuff"
that keeps a business going, (she is an Information Analyst among
other things) she is a remarkable designer in her own right. Her
skill with Flash is impressive, she has a great sense of design and
layout, she has an innate understanding of Internet marketing,
and clients love her.
Her first site (self taught) went live when she was 16 years old.
Back then that's saying something. It still stands on it's merits
all these years later.
Meg's been an Official Internet Junky since she was the grand old
age of 15. She knew her way around (and was training others to use)
chat rooms, mIRC, and the like, long before most people had ever
heard of them.
We don't think she was actually the
"First Woman on the Net", but we'd bet the farm she was in the first
6!
She recently decided to upgrade her
design skills and get some "official" status as a designer and has
just completed a Web Design course at a local college (Honours of
course). We're told by her teacher she could have taught the course
herself.
When we can keep her from flying off to
Atlanta, Georgia and Salt Lake City, Utah she is continuing her
education in the area of Marketing/Advertising.
We have several other
members of the IT world we hire on a per contract basis. All are dedicated
and talented individuals that we are proud to have as part of our team.
To keep us at
the leading edge
that the IT industry demands, our group is constantly
in the process of
upgrading skills and learning
new technologies and languages
as they evolve. Below are some of the Industry Accreditations we have
earned.
